Poor water and sanitation significantly impact the health and livelihoods of Nepalese people. Each year, an estimated 10,500 Nepalese children below five years of age die from the effects of diarrhea disease and 12% of children had experienced diarrhea within two weeks of the survey (MICS 2014). WHO estimates that almost 90% of the global diarrhea disease burden can be attributed to unsafe water supply, inadequate sanitation and poor hygienic behavior. Health emergency response plan during post-earthquake emergency situation counterparts the working experience of Lifeline Nepal in the sector of WASH sector which involved health support by restoring health services in damaged health facilities, BCC focusing on MNCH and WASH.

- Coordination with stakeholders for developing and revising WASH related policy, program guidelines, standard protocols, and training package
- Empowerment of community health workers on WASH through BCC and other methods
Supply of WASH commodities including construction of latrine in health facilities. - Research, pilot and scale up new intervention to address the needs of WASH with a comprehensive approach.
